From time to time I use Lebanese words in my posts, and some people have been asking what they mean or how to say them, so I thought I would just keep a running glossary of words and add to it whenever I use one.
marhaba
Sounds like: marr-Hah-baa
In Arabic: مرحبا
Meaning: hello

Sound like: sah-tane
In Arabic: صحتين
Meaning: literally, "two healths." The expression is rendered when you offer someone food, or when they offer you food.
shukran
Sounds like: shoe-krahn
In Arabic: شكراً
Meaning: thank you

Sounds like: aynjahd
In Arabic: عنجد (not in formal Arabic; spoken Lebanese only)
Meaning: "Really," technical meaning is speaking of truth
akeed
Sounds like (in Lebanese Arabic): a-keyed
In Arabic: اكيد
Meaning:
adjective: downright, sure, assured, doubtless
adverb: naturally, surely

Meaning: Much, frequently, a lot
